INDESCAT delivers the V Business and Sports Awards

INDESCAT delivered yesterday the Business and Sports Awards in its fifth edition to Entrepreneurship, Internationalization, Innovation and Partnership. The event was held in the Auditorium of the UPF Barcelona School Management and was attended by 180 people from sports, business and institutional fields.

The Business and Sports Partnership Award was for Paited Apps and the Catalan Federation of Basketball for their project Coach Studio (vídeo), a platform to digitise the daily work of basketball coaches, to facilitate their work and also the follow-up and support of the club coordinators.

For the first time, a Business and Sports Award on Entrepreneurship was created, as a result of the implementation of the INDESUP! program to support entrepreneurs and start-ups in sport. The award was given to RunOpinion (vídeo), a platform that integrates information and functionalities that a runner needs to practice running safely and healthily, which he can share with his contacts.

Skitude (vídeo) won the Business and Sports Internationalization Award. It is a social network for snow and mountain sports that allows access to information about stations and record the activity for own use and to be shared in other networks.

Finally, the Innovation and Business Award for Innovation was for FirstVision (vídeo), a company that has developed a camera integrated in the shirts of athletes and referees, with the aim of improving the viewer's experience in sports broadcasts.

The award ceremony was attended by 180 people from the institutional, business and sports fields, including the president of INDESCAT, Anna Pruna; the Secretary General of l'Esport, Gerard Figueras; the director of the Consell Català de l'Esport, Toni Reig; the Comissionada d'Esports of the Ajuntament de Barcelona, Marta Carranza; the Conseller Delegat of ACCIÓ, Joan Romero, the president of the Unió de Federacions Esportives de Catalunya, Gerard Esteva, and the general director of the UPF Barcelona School of Management, Carme Martinell.

This September, INDESCAT took part in a strategic mission to the Swedish region of Skåne, together with 15 Catalan clusters. The mission, organised by ACCIÓ, aimed to explore one of Europe’s most advanced innovation ecosystems and to establish synergies for future European projects.

INDESCAT and the AMBIT cluster presented on September 15 the results of “LIVINGLAB-FIT: Reinventing Fitness Spaces.” This pioneering initiative aims to respond to the needs of companies in the sector to redesign sports spaces to make them more comfortable, attractive, inclusive, healthy, and efficient. The ultimate goal is to attract new members and improve the experience and loyalty of existing ones, as well as the staff working in these centers. This project, promoted by both clusters and with the participation of various stakeholders —from fitness centers to sports equipment suppliers and the academic sector— has received the support of ACCIÓ within the framework of the competitiveness support program.

Sustainable mobility is one of today’s major challenges, especially in high-traffic contexts such as large-scale events and daily corporate operations. In response to this reality, innovative solutions are needed—ones that embrace a more efficient, connected, and environmentally friendly model. Within this framework, BusForFun was born: a company driving a new paradigm in collective mobility by integrating technology, logistics, and sustainability to optimize travel across Europe.

We speak with Aaron Bello, Sales Manager at BusForFun, to learn how the initiative began, the challenges they’ve faced in transforming mobility at mass events, and how they bring this experience into the corporate world to facilitate the daily transport of thousands of workers.

From September 19 to 21, the city of Girona will once again become the epicentre of the cycling world with a new edition of Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Garmin - Shimano, one of the most prominent international festivals in the sector. In this 9th edition, five member companies of INDESCAT and the Barcelona Sports Hub will participate in the cluster’s exhibition space within the Expo Zone, reinforcing their presence and visibility in a strategic event for the sports industry.

For the third consecutive year, INDESCAT is collaborating with the festival's organisers through a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing the competitiveness and international projection of Catalan companies in the sports sector.
