This week, at INDESCAT we participated in the Strategic Cluster Week 2025 in Switzerland, an ACCIÓ initiative that connects Catalan clusters with internationally recognized innovation ecosystems. It was a week of strategic immersion, with joint sessions and personalized agendas, allowing us to explore global trends and foster new alliances for the Catalan sports sector.

Driving collaborations with top international players

Throughout the week, we promoted key collaborations with leading sports organizations worldwide, such as the UEFA Innovation Hub, ThinkSport, the sports cluster based in Lausanne, and the Swiss Esports Federation, a leader in eGames.

These meetings enabled us to identify opportunities for joint work in innovation, digitalization, and internationalization.

Institutional visit to the International Olympic Committee

We also visited the International Olympic Committee (IOC), where we shared visions about the future challenges of sports and explored new avenues for cooperation. This was an opportunity that strengthens Catalonia’s positioning as a strategic partner in the international sports arena.

Creating a new collaboration network between Catalonia and Switzerland

The mission allowed us to establish an inter-company collaboration network between Catalan and Swiss companies. We fostered synergies in areas such as technology, health, sports performance, mobility, and user experience, contributing to new opportunities for joint projects.

Strategic and inspiring learnings

The week was full of valuable insights, including:

• The keynote by Prof. Mathias Binswanger on the Swiss competitiveness model.
• A session with Gerd Leonhard on artificial intelligence and the technological future.
• A visit to Empa, the Swiss research center for materials science, where we learned about cutting-edge projects in construction and mobility.
• A tour of Swiss retail leaders organized by HWZ Zürich, where we explored how they adapt marketing strategies and customer experience.
• The inspiring example of Yokoy, a Swiss scale-up acquired by TravelPerk, illustrating the growing connection between the Zurich and Barcelona ecosystems.

Strengthening Catalonia’s leadership in sports innovation

Participation in this mission has allowed us to strengthen INDESCAT’s international projection and position Catalonia as a reference in sports innovation. We return with new connections, learnings, and opportunities that reinforce our mission to drive the Catalan sports sector globally.
