In an increasingly digitalized context, managing sports centers has become a challenge that requires efficient, integrated, and flexible technological solutions. We speak with Rafa Solans, Project Director at Fit Cloud, an innovative platform that integrates technology and sports performance to provide complete IT management for gyms, sports clubs, facilities, and training studios.
From access control systems to CRM tools and mobile apps for users, Fit Cloud has become a benchmark in sports digitalization. We explore where the idea originated, how technology is used to improve performance and customer retention, and what challenges and goals lie ahead for the company within the INDESCAT ecosystem.
Where did the need to create Fit Cloud come from?
The idea for Fit Cloud was born in 2010, from our direct experience in the sports sector and from identifying shortcomings in the management tools available at the time. Many sports centers were operating with fragmented systems that did not allow for efficient management or optimal user experiences. This motivated us to develop a comprehensive, cloud-based platform that unified all the necessary functions for the daily management of a sports center—from administration to access control and client interactions through a mobile app.
What services or functionalities do you offer through Fit Cloud, and what types of professionals or sports entities are you mainly targeting?
At Fit Cloud, we offer a comprehensive solution for managing sports centers, including:
Management software: client control, billing, bookings, CRM, advanced statistics, and segmentation, among others.
Access control: flexible systems using proximity technology, QR codes, cards, and biometrics.
24/7 virtual reception or app: a digital tool that allows users to access nearly any service offered by the center, including online sign-ups, bookings, personal data updates, forms/surveys, billing history, news feeds...
Corporate website: for content management and digital positioning.
We cater to a wide range of professionals and sports entities, such as gyms, sports clubs, personal training studios, CrossFit boxes, sports complexes, and chains or franchises. Our software—one of the most versatile on the market—adapts to the specific needs of each type of facility.
How do you use technology to enhance performance, tracking, or training in the sports sector? What makes your solution stand out?
Our management system gives sports centers a detailed view of their clients' behavior and needs. Using real-time segmentation tools and analytics, managers can tailor offers, optimize schedules, and improve loyalty. Furthermore, the integration of customized forms helps track client progress, especially in personal training settings. We believe strategic differentiation is essential—especially to stand out from large chains—which is why we’ve built a highly customizable solution. It can be tailored to the specific models of our clients and supports the creation of mini-apps functioning as plugins within the Fit Cloud ecosystem.
At a time when data use and artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly important, how are these tools integrated into your platform?
Fit Cloud collects and analyzes a large volume of user activity data, allowing managers to make informed decisions. While we do not currently have artificial intelligence implemented, we are actively exploring these technologies to further improve our after-sales service. Our continuous drive for improvement and adoption of new trends in sports management keeps us constantly searching for ways to make current tools and resources more efficient. We define ourselves as a tech company committed to its product and service.
One of your key strengths is access control and the virtual reception. How do you help improve user autonomy and experience in this area, and how do you see the future of these services?
Our access control system allows users to autonomously enter the facility using various technologies such as QR codes, proximity cards, or biometrics. The 24/7 virtual reception ensures clients can access and manage services at any time, enhancing their experience while reducing the need for staff during off-hours. We believe the future lies in increased service automation, using technologies that enable more efficient management and better user experiences. In this regard, we see traditional receptions evolving—from being mere management points to becoming key loyalty-building tools with great potential for generating customer value.
How do you see the evolution of digitalization in the world of sports and health? What changes do you foresee in the coming years, and how are you adapting?
Digitalization is transforming the sports sector, with growing trends toward automation, personalization, and data use to improve services. We anticipate greater integration of technologies like artificial intelligence, resource automation, and smart facility systems (domotics) in sports centers. At Fit Cloud, we are committed to continuous innovation to stay ahead of these trends and offer solutions that meet the sector's emerging needs.
What is the most important short-term challenge you face? And in the long term, what are your objectives?
In the short term, our main challenge is to continue evolving our management system to provide an increasingly complete, efficient, and personalized experience for our clients. In the long term, we aim to establish ourselves as a leading reference in the digitalization of the sports sector. We want to do this while maintaining the principles that have brought us this far: deeply understanding our clients’ needs, providing them with the best tools to grow, and offering close, ongoing support in their development.
At INDESCAT, we promote collaboration between companies. What kind of companies do you think you can create synergies with, and why?
We can create synergies with companies that offer services complementary to ours, such as sports equipment manufacturers, smart facility solution providers, health and wellness app developers, and payment solution providers. These partnerships would allow us to offer a more integrated and complete solution to our clients, enhancing both their experience and operational efficiency.
What do you think being part of a cluster like INDESCAT can offer you, and what can you bring to the ecosystem?
Being part of INDESCAT gives us the opportunity to connect with other players in the sector, share knowledge, and collaborate on innovative projects. We believe we can contribute our experience in the digitalization of sports centers and help develop technological solutions that enhance the competitiveness of the entire industry.
