Companies from the sports sector, together with the SmartSports4GoodLife, present their products at ISPO Brandnew in the framework of ISPO Munich

From 27 to 30 November, INDESCAT traveled to Germany to visit the most important fair of the sports sector, ISPO Munich, and had a joint stand with the partners of the European project SmartSports4GoodLife in the ISPO Brandnew area. The event was also attended by the cluster member companies Athos, Fresh Snow, Improfit, Neu Boots, NZero, Powerinstep, and the Andorra Esports Cluster. AFYDAD, the Asociación  de Fabricantes y Distribuidores de Artículos Deportivos, also collaborated in the event. 

ISPO Munich is the leading international trade fair for the sportssector, specialised in sportswear and fashion (sports clothing, mountaineeringequipment, gym equipment, sports shoes, textiles, etc.). It is a benchmark event for discovering the latest trends and innovations in the area of sports and sports equipment, focusing on five segments: outdoor, snow sports, sports fashion, health and wellness, and textiles.

As part of ISPO Munich, there was the ISPO Brandnew area, a very important platform for the promotion and expansion of start-ups from the sports industry. INDESCAT offers start-ups that are members of the cluster the opportunity to attend this meeting point of the sector, which allowed them to expand their networking (distributors, shops, investors, etc.) with the aimof opening up to the international market.

 The start-ups and companies that were presented at ISPO Brandnew in the framework of the European project SmartSports4GoodLife are the following: 

  • Athos: the first 3D printed, custom-made climbing shoes. Athosenhances both the experience and performance of sport through technology, innovation and customisation. 
  • Fresh Snow: is an intelligent ski resort search engine that combines the best technology with the development of a community of skiers who provide information from the ski slopes themselves. Fresh Snow is a perfect tool to find the best snow from the location that the user determines. By means of alerts, webcams and favorites management, among other features.
  • Green Holds: A radical & sustainable sports climbing innovation. After 4 years of R&D they managed to produce the world's first recyclable climbing holds. Produced with raw materials from waste. High-end engineered. Top quality with the perfect Grip & Feel.
  • Improfit: Platform aimed at quantifying and evaluating exercises andmovement patterns performed by users, through computer vision technologies (human body estimation).
  • Neu Boots: manufacturer of a revolutionary ski boots unique in theworld with a patented technology that combines stiffness and comfort duringskiing without losing performance or control of the skis.
  • NZero: develops and markets 100% organic andsustainable waxes and lubricants, 100% organic and totally biodegradable, with the aim of avoiding theimpact on nature of fluorinated compounds and other chemical derivatives ofpetroleum (paraffins).
  • Powerinstep: promoters of an optimisation system for running, trailrunning, triathlon and athletics training that is beneficial for all levels ofperformance, based on the use of light and mobile weights.
  • SeYu: is a technology solution for sports fans that allows them to motivate their favourite teams or athletes from anywhere in the world. Seyu uses partners' existing IT infrastructure via Seyu platforms to allow fans worldwide to post selfies of stadium LEDs and other digital surfaces during sports events through a moderated channel and then instantly share them on social media with media-branded frames. 

 The start-ups Athos, Fresh Snow, Green Holds and SeYu shared a stand together with the partners of the European project SmartSports4GoodLife, while the rest of start-ups and companies had their own space at the fair.  

On Tuesday, 29th November at 13h, INDESCAT, together withSmartSports4GoodLife partners and AFYDAD, holded the ISPONetworking Party at the fair's Padel Village. It was an opportunity to expand the network of contacts, establish relationships between the rest of the participants with similar professional interests, and generate business opportunities. 

This joint mission is part of the European project SmartSports4GoodLife,co-funded by the COSME programme of the European Union, coordinated by INDESCAT and with the participation of the European sport clusters Cluster Sports &Technology, Cluster Montagne and MSE Cluster and the European platform for innovation in sport EPSI.

This Thursday, May 8th, INDESCAT and the WeMind Cluster held the event “The Challenge of Longevity: The Role of Physical and Mental Health.” An initiative co-organized by both clusters with the collaboration of ACCIÓ and the sponsorship of Technogym and Tecnosport.

The event, hosted at the headquarters of the WeMind Cluster, was part of an open innovation strategy aimed at creating synergies between the sports and health sectors, to foster the development of high-potential collaborative projects with a strong impact on the promotion of well-being and quality of life.

The international cycling festival Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Garmin, held in Girona on 19, 20 and 21 September, and the sports industry cluster, INDESCAT, have renewed their strategic collaboration agreement by which they seek to combine synergies to enhance the sports sector.

We spoke with Lluís Casas & Xavi Guilà, founders of Vibliotec, the EdTech platform specialized in sports training, which successfully combines technical knowledge with personal development to offer learning pathways tailored to the needs of professionals in the sports industry. With a clear mission to democratize access to high-quality training and a strong focus on innovation, Vibliotec is consolidating its position as a key player both locally and internationally. They explain how the project came about and what challenges and opportunities lie ahead in a time of great transformation for the sports industry.

INDESCAT took part in the in-person meeting of the I3-INSHAPE project held in the city of Debrecen (Hungary) on April 2nd and 3rd. The meeting focused on the current status of the Open Call, a key phase of the project led by INDESCAT and ACCIÓ. This call aims to identify and select SMEs from the different regions represented in the consortium to implement collaborative innovation projects. A total of 24 companies will be selected, each receiving €30,500 in funding to support the development of their projects.

We interview Paco Ruano, president of Lleuresport, a Barcelona-based organization with over 30 years of history that has firmly committed to a socially inclusive approach to sports management. “We’ve understood that we must actively reach out to those who face greater challenges accessing sports, not just wait for them to come,” says Ruano. His vision blends sustainability, technological innovation, and health, with initiatives like the creation of the Innovation Manager role and energy efficiency improvements in facilities. The organization is now fully focused on the sports sector, aiming to grow within the concession management field.

More than twenty professionals from the sports industry attended the second edition of the INDESCAT Breakfast, which we held at the Carulla Foundation. The session, aimed at organizations in the sports industry interested in learning in detail what INDESCAT is and the benefits of being part of this community, allowed attendees to discover the cluster's innovative projects and exclusive services.
